Dubliners
This is a collection of fifteen stories about middle-class residents of the capital of Ireland. The characters are ordinary workers who can be found on the streets every day. For the first time this book was published over a hundred years ago. The most famous story is the last in the collection. It is a kind of result. It completes all the topics covered in the book and puts the final point. This collection appeared by chance when James Joyce was asked to write several stories for a local magazine. But the readers did not like the first stories so much that the editor refused further cooperation. But at that moment the author understood that these stories should be combined into one book. This is a book that will help you see that 20th century Ireland of and understand the hard life of this country.
